I. LEVEL & LENGTH: Level 1 & 2, One Full Year, Students will be finishing Level 1(started last year), and moving into Level 2.
II. DESCRIPTION:
Developing Number Sense, Level 1, is the first level of a three level, researched based, comprehensive, mathematics intervention curriculum called TransMath. It is designed to provide support for students in grades 7-10, who lack the foundational skills necessary for successful entrance into Algebra and are at least two years below grade level on state tests. Some of the key features of the Trans Math program include:

TransMath curriculum materials align with standards of the National Mathematics Panel Report (2008), for grades 5-8, and correlates with the MN Academic standards for Math, grades 4-8. IV. MAJOR TOPICS AND OBJECTIVES:
Developing Number Sense, Level 1 focuses on building foundational number sense skills.

C. Operations H. Multistep Problems
D. Factors I. Mean, Median, Range
E. Multiples J. Measurement
Making Sense of Rational Numbers, Level 2 focuses on rational Numbers. The following topics are covered at this level.
A. Fractions G. Data & Statistics
B. Decimal Numbers H. Two-Dimensional Geometry
C. Percentages I. Probability
D. Exponents
E. Negative Numbers
F. Estimation
V. LESSON STRUCTURE: Every math lesson will follow the format below:
A. Building Number Sense Activity (5-10 Minutes)
B. Building Number Concepts/Problem Solving (25-30 Minutes)
C. Intervention (10-15 Minutes)
D. Homework/Skill Maintenance (At Home/On Their Own)
VI. MATERIALS
A. Level 1 student text: Developing Number Sense / Level 2 student text: Making Sense of Rational Numbers

VII. EVALUATION: Regular attendance is critical to success in class. Points will be assigned for the following areas:
A. Active participation in daily lesson activities.
B. Lesson homework.
C. Ongoing Assessments including: quizzes, unit tests, and performance assessments.
D. Math Concept Application Probes.
VIII. GRADING
A. Pass/Fail grade is given.
B. Passing grade is 70% of total points.
